February 2022: Ms. Hufford

February seems a fitting month to highlight Ms. Carly Hufford, considering how much her Bluebirds love having her as a part of our PSE family! Ms. Hufford is new to PSE this year, and new to teaching Vocal Music in BCPS, having graduated from Towson University last year. Originally from Silver Spring, MD, Ms. Hufford has traveled around the world: studying abroad in Spain, and spending time with family, and embracing her love of hiking in Canada, Portugal, Italy, and Nicaragua. She is planning to visit Ireland this summer, and continue to adventure globally in the future! Helpful skill in these adventures at home and abroad? Ms. Hufford is bilingual! She is fluent in Spanish and English.

Some of you have already noticed the new smiling face in our front office this fall – we’re excited to have our new Administrative Secretary, Ms. Amy DiBari, join our veteran Ms. Amanda Peace to form our new administrative powerhouse team!

Mr. George is one of PSE’s talented Additional Adult Assistants (AAA), and he is also the Program Director at Hotspots, PSE’s before and after school childcare program. AAA’s work one on one with students, including students who have IEP’s, offering individual support to help students achieve success.

Welcome to the Nest, Nurse Ryan!

This month, we want to spotlight PSE’s new School Nurse, Tricia Ryan!  Nurse Ryan brings with her to PSE 18 years of nursing experience, including four years as a school nurse substitute within BCPS.  While growing up, Nurse Ryan had the opportunity to travel as a result of her father’s military employment before her family settled down in Mt. Washington.  She graduated from the University of MD School of nursing, and now has a family of her own, living with her husband, 13 year old daughter, 12 year old son, and 3 year old dog.

When Nurse Ryan isn’t providing care to our Bluebirds, she enjoys spending time with her children, walking, reading, swimming, and listening to music.  She loves eating Mediterranean cuisine, animals of all kinds, and is a proud member of Green House!  Looking forward to the year ahead at PSE, Nurse Ryan is excited to help students, staff, and families – and our PSE community is excited to have you, Nurse Ryan – welcome to the “nest”!
