New Year, Familiar Face: Mr. George Durmowicz, Additional Adult Assistant

Mr. George is one of PSE’s talented Additional Adult Assistants (AAA), and he is also the Program Director at Hotspots, PSE’s before and after school childcare program. AAA’s work one on one with students, including students who have IEP’s, offering individual support to help students achieve success.  Read more here.

Let's Stay Healthy

Let's help our Pot Spring community stay healthy and strong this winter by following these guidelines:

• Continue to monitor your children for symptoms of COVID. COVID symptoms are often mild and may include cold symptoms like congestion, sore throat and/or fatigue, as well as other symptoms like a headache or fever, loss of taste or smell, cough, and/or vomiting/diarrhea.
• If your child has symptoms of COVID, please stay home and test yourself. Your children may return to school if your test is negative.
• If symptoms continue, consult with your healthcare provider to determine if additional testing is needed.
• Answer calls from MDCOVID, as this is the caller-ID for the Maryland Department of Health contact tracing unit.
• Notify our school nurse if you have a positive test.

Thanks again to everyone who donated to Race For Education and helped us not just reach, but exceed, our goal! Curious how these funds will be used? As you know, our focus this year is to help close the achievement gaps at Pot Spring. Specifically, we're providing resources to help all our Bluebirds become confident readers. To explain why this is our focus, and how exactly we're partnering with the school, we've made 3 short videos. Support for the Williams Family

Our hearts go out to the Williams children and their family. Many of you have asked how you can help.

A community member has set up a GoFundMe to collect funds to cover funeral expenses and other immediate needs that the children may have: Support for the Williams siblings. Any amount is much appreciated.

The family has also shared Amazon wish lists for each of the children. If you are able to purchase a piece of clothing or a holiday gift, please have a look at the links below.

Conscious Discipline

Thank you to Mr. Fare and Ms. Alexander for sharing why and how Conscious Discipline is used at Pot Spring. If you missed the parent breakfast last Friday, you can check out their presentation here. The parent breakfasts are part of the PTA's ongoing effort to make Pot Spring a more equitable learning environment.
