Virtual Baking Night

Description
It's our second annual Baking Night with Mrs. Cibor!  We are excited to be back in the kitchen with Mrs. Cibor this year and can't wait to get baking.  Join us as we bake up a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies, you won't want to miss it!

You can find a list of ingredients below.  If you don't like to bake or if you don't have all of the ingredients, no worries login for some fun anyway!  We hope to see lots of bluebirds there.  Login using Google Meet code PSEBaking.

Mrs. Cibor’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup of shortening*
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ cup of light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 – 10- or 11-ounce bag of semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips**

* I use shortening in this recipe, but I ONLY use Spectrum Organic Non-Hydrogenated Shortening. This brand of shortening is available at Wegman’s and MOM’s Organic Market and it is much more expensive ($7.00 per container) than other brands or butter. Regular, partially hydrogenated shortening (like Crisco) does not produce the same result; you can use it, but the cookie dough might be slightly more greasy. If you can find a nonhydrogenated shortening that is less expensive, that is fine. If you are unable to get this brand of shortening, I recommend butter instead (in the same amount as listed in the recipe).

** I use Ghirardelli 60% Cocoa chips, but any kind of dark chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips will be fine.
